Before you type

Before you type, here is what will happen.

1. You type your email address in the box and press "Sign me up". Nothing else is asked.
2. You then see a page from Buttondown, the company that sends our email. It is not a page on our site. The page may say that you have subscribed. You are not on our list yet. You are on it only after you open the link in the checking email.
3. Buttondown sends one checking email to that address. It comes from phishfry@buttondown.email. That is an address at Buttondown, not at ours. Its subject is "Confirm your subscription to Phish Fry Security".
4. The email has one blue button, "Confirm subscription". The button opens a page at Buttondown. You open the button's link to say the address is yours. Buttondown's frame around the email also holds a small "Powered by Buttondown" link, and your mail program may add a link of its own for stopping. We do not ask you to open them. A picture at the top of the email may not show.
5. If you did not ask for our newsletter, do nothing. We will not send it to you unless the link in that email is opened.

At the foot of every issue, Buttondown, the company that sends it for us, adds a link for stopping. It opens a page at Buttondown.

Your email address

Sign me up

Free. An issue most weeks. We ask for your email address and nothing else. Buttondown, the company that sends our email, also records the internet address you sign up from, and the date.

If the email does not come

Look in your junk or spam folder. If it is not there, our Contact us page has our address, and you can write to us.
